It's Coming

MUSIC & OYSTERS FOR WILDLIFE 2010

our Annual Fun(d)-Raiser

SATURDAY, JANUARY 16, 2010

2:00 - 6:00pm

Held at the Sewee Outpost - 4853 Hwy 17N in Awendaw, SC

This will be our FIFTH Annual MOW event and it should be as much fun as those in the past! This is a Rain or Shine event --- we roast those succulent oysters and have wonderful musicians playing, so be sure to come again or join us for the first time. This is a great place to see old friends or to bring your friends and neighbors. Family-friendly with a sea-turtle activity for kids, great music and a great way to help the SEWEE Association keep doing what we do best --- teaching our youth about this wonderful place we call home.

This year, The Blue Dogs are back!! Will they bring the youngest members of the families onstage again --- most likely! And Papa Futch will probably be up there jamming as only he can do. Ed and Sarah Hunnicutt will open the afternoon as the oysters are laid upon the tables. Triple Lindy is back to get everyone ready for Cravin' Melon, the Occasional Milkshake (which will include crowd favorite Danielle Howle), and the Whisperjets will close out the day of music. Where else can you get all this in one place!!

This event is the Major Fund-raiser for the SEWEE Association each year and we are looking for SPONSORS and items to be donated for our SILENT AUCTION. Sponsors will get recognition at the event, free tickets, and thanks through our web site and publications all year. If you want those who attend to know that you support the work of the SEWEE Association as a sponsor, contact Karen Beshears for more information.

Tickets are now on sale through Etix. They are $35 for adults in advance (children under 12 are free) and will be $40 the day of the event. Tickets will also be on sale at the Sewee Outpost and at Sewee Dental Care after January 2nd.

Buy your tickets early as there are a limited number to be sold. Bring your oyster knife, gloves and a chair to enjoy the music if you like! Not particularly fond of oysters? No problem --- we have BBQ, burgers, hot dogs and drinks for sales. We also have beer and the new Grace Bridge wine marketed by Piggly Wiggly for sale! No outside alcoholic beverages allowed and we request that you leave your pets at home (it can get crowded and we don't want our furry friends to get hurt!).

This is a wonderful chance to see old friends and make new ones --- people who care about our natural habitats along the coast and want to make sure it is there for our children. Don't miss out this year!!

Tour of Bulls Island with Rudy Mancke

We just held the 14th Tour with Rudy and had a wonderful turn-out, despite the swarms of mosquitoes!

Patrons were treated to a very interestingl tour of the island with Rudy's interpretation, and had views of the natural world that many had never seen.

Along Alligator Alley, we came upon a 11-foot (or more) alligator trying to get a meal of a yellow-bellied slider. This time the slider won and was able to get away.

Rudy also kept everyone engaged on Boneyard Beach
